Carpenter announces run for Guadalupe County Judge

Schertz, Texas — In front of a packed room of community leaders, business owners, and elected officials from across the region, Guadalupe County Commissioner Michael Carpenter officially announced his candidacy for Guadalupe County Judge during the Texas Tri-County Chamber of Commerce’s Elected Officials Gala on Wednesday night.

The announcement drew strong applause from the audience, many of whom have known Carpenter through his decades of public service. Carpenter first entered local leadership as a Schertz City Councilman and later served multiple terms as Mayor, where he earned a reputation for being hands-on, accessible, and focused on practical results. He has continued that approach on the Guadalupe County Commissioners Court, where he has championed public safety, infrastructure planning, and responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars.

Those in attendance say the moment felt both energetic and personal — the kind of hometown announcement that reflects Carpenter’s long-standing connection to the region.

“Guadalupe County is growing fast, and the decisions we make now will shape our future for years to come,” Carpenter said following his announcement. “I’m running for County Judge because I believe in this community, and I believe we can continue to protect what makes it special while planning responsibly for the challenges ahead.”

Throughout his career, Carpenter has worked closely with law enforcement, local cities, and rural partners to keep county services strong and responsive. Colleagues often describe him as prepared, patient, and committed to listening — especially when growth, transportation, and public safety issues collide.

With his announcement now official, Carpenter’s campaign for County Judge will begin engaging residents across Guadalupe County in the weeks ahead.
